Survivor

This kitten left by his mother while his eyes still not fully opened. The pedestrians seemed to ignore his presence, i took some moments to watch him.

Sure, he'll be a stronger cat one day. As he needs to survive as a lone ranger in KL city. There's no funny as i'm relating his life with human. Some of us left our hometown to find jobs in KL, all ups and downs are taken care and handled wisely.

p/s i'm still recovering from slight fever. Pray for my health friends for me to keep shooting and writing.

Freeing Making Photoing

A very good weather in Kuala Lumpur this morning. I don't really understand why some stupid freaks making so much noise outside of apartment. So, conclusion, i woke up early.

Planning of bringing film cameras to have an evening walk, I just laugh when people keep saying this and that. For me, i am the one who drive my camera, instruct them to do what i want to do and what i wish to capture in the frame.

People just bother to add gears, without knowing what is the purpose of the camera+lens. Google/Yahoo search first before asking so that you will have the ideas of what to ask.

Happy weekend, today is Sabtuday!

Enjoy the Sibuan Island Sabah photo!

Raya Day

What a Raya day, not going home, wish a really happy raya to all, to family back at home. Enjoy and don't eat too much oily food-do take care your digestion system

I'm doing great here, not to worry much.

Friends & Projekt

Projekt : The Portrait of Young Professional

Criterias :

++ Open Minded, Funky, Simple
++ Age 21-30 years old (male and female)
++ Can be anybody, government, private sector servant, sports person etc
++ Still bachelor in 2010

If you think you have all the criterias, drop me an email shukri_sharkawi at yahoo.com for the appointment. I believe photography is not just about camera/lightings/art directions only, I want to built rapport with all 'model' candidates. This shooting will be for FREE, but i will reward the model(s) with some tokens. I'm sure you'll like it.

Why i choose 2010, it marks 10 years to Year 2020, former Prime Minister (Tun Mahathir brain child Vision 2020). The portraits are symbolic as manpowers to reach the vision.

"Young, energetic, intelligent, brilliant, nerdy are welcome to contribute and participate "

Kuala Terengganu

Friends and Followers of Shutterclans (Kerteh-Paka-Kemaman Based), gathered at ChinaTown. The day before my assignment, we had a free shooting session. I just brought my Yashica FX3 Super2000. Fun

The middle photo i shot using 135mmm f2.8. I just can't imagine how would be the end result of canon 135mm f2.0, crispier i guess. Others i just used 28mm f2.8.

Thanks friends from Kuala Terengganu!

If you are serious, You need to read this!

The best in the market i've ever tried is Ilford black and white film. They cost more but the quality is there. Nowadays, shooting using film is just perfect, while this photography thingy keep reversing back to its basic.

If you are not getting any points of what i am trying to say here, please if you got chances of using film cameras, do study and do some research on the models of cameras. This will widen your knowledge field, principle of lenses, and understand how oldtimers working with this manual camera.

I read about war photographers, how they develop images from negatives and complete as photos. In the condition of war, tensed atmosphere how do they survive and ensure they got the desired moment. Do you think they have LCD to view the photos and simply delete it if not reaching the desired standards.

I am learning, I was a newbie 4 years back and continue to be a learner. Every time i met and sit down with amazing people with awesome photo portfolios, i feel i have nothing to offer much in this industry. That's why i don't really agree (mind me, personal opinion) with some people, who got huge amount of money and simply jump into photography without attending any classes or courses. I do agree, photography requires no certificates or doctorates, but it needs sacrifices of time, money and energy. If one got the academic background in this field, it's an advantage.

A friend, A master, A mentor once told me :

1. If you wanna be someone, or idol, look at what he had done.
2. If love something, you need to sacrifice time, money etc
3. There's no shortcut or taking people for granted
4. Treat yourself like an empty glass, always ready to be filled of water.
5. Be humble, don't stubborn
6. Dare to make mistakes, learn from it
7. Try and fail but you are not dead yet, you are dead when you are quitting
8. Self learning, don't wait for people to teach you
9. Invest in equipment, there's a reason why the lenses, camera bodies are damn crazy expensive, because of the QUALITY it holds.
10. After all, you yourself will determine where is your destination in your dreams.

FotoFolio

The days before Aidil Adha around KL. Hunting photos for next year exhibition.

On Job

The Oasis Tanjung Benua, peaceful place than any other part of Bali, referring to Kuta and Legian. Miss the moment at Uluwatu and keep praying for the next trip on next assignment perhaps.

CAMBODIA

It's about time, i need to find a sponsor for my travel project to Cambodia. The weapon should be in the bag :

1. Canon 5D MarkII + Battery Grip
2. Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens
3. Canon 85mm f1.4
4. Canon 16-35mm f2.8

Should there be a sponsor, please let me know (really hoping to be reality). This will be a massive photo-documentary about a few topics from there. Within this week or next week, will be meeting someone from Reuters for the deliverable (I am still learning) of the projects. The topics will be revealed soon as approaching the dates of departure. Gonna spend almost a week in Cambodia, i should start learn basic Cambodia language by now.

Boat Maker

Boat Maker's life in Mabul Island.

Located very near to the shore and all the materials are brought from Semporna. It takes about 2-3 months to complete 1 boat that will cost about RM 30-50 thousand. Once ready, the owner needs to register the boat with LKIM Sabah for the purpose of fishing at the sea. This is very important to distinguish from neighboring countries fishing boat.

Kampung Boy

Living and grown up in village near a mountain named Sadong. A very cold place during early morning and yet still remember the time all cousins took bathed at Sibu river. Damn chilling water, straight from the mountain.

When it came to Durian season, a heaven moment! No need to shop for them, got orchard not far from the house. Durian price surprisingly super cheap, 20 cents for 1 durian?

I'm still a kampung boy who pursue his dream far away from hometown! Peace

Photos shot on Nikon FM2

Landscapes

Besides looking for story photos, i shoot landscapes as well. It's a must have photo when you got chance to pounce on 'em. Out of 100 photos, maybe 5 of them would be landscapes. It is normal i guess for someone who are not into landscapes photography.

Life as SUPERSTAR? Being a photographer? Are they related?

Mencari Konklusi Tour 2009

KL Live Center (TGIF) Kuala Lumpur was the venue of Hujan Singapore & Peninsular Malaysia Tour. They did UK tour previously hence strengthening their grass root fans and followers. About 1000 plus Raingers turned up and enjoying Hujan's music. Me myself don't see any problem that Hujan can rise high in this industry like the Butterfingers.

Loque Butterfingers made a surprise appearance by singing his favourite song Rantai Rasa Cinta, a duet with Noh. All fans keep making noise, singing together and yet I still can feel everybody misses Butterfingers damn a lot. I just love their Kembali album, Maharani track rawks!

Noh, Dimas, AG coco, Am, Izzat, we, Raingers proud of you!

concert Photography :

understand the relations of ISO, shutter speed and aperture. How these 3 siblings work together with light. However, don't get too excited once you hit the right setting and please ensure composition of subject in photo is right (art of seeing). Photography is all about light, creativity, your big heart and open dynamic mindset.

If you bring ego, you'll bring back the photos in return but you left extra knowledge behind and you wont grow up.
